Some Simple Tips To Building A Digital Camera Short List

, Posted in: Photographers, Author: guest (June 29, 2009)

If there ever was a product that failed to live up to it’s potential, the Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder was that product. Small, easy to use, YouTube friendly, and everyone is doing the video thing these days. The Flip Video got all kinds of media love from USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and even Oprah used a Flip Video on her show. It’s truly a great idea whose time has come, and people are buying them up, in spite of all their problems. Speaking of their problems, lets have a look shall we.

So, at this point you may still be convinced that the Nikon D40 SLR is still the best camera for you. That’s fine, like I said earlier, it really depends on what is the right camera for you. It’s hard to beat a good photographer with the right camera. This sony cybershot dscw300 and this can you upload images from a disposable digital camera should help with canon powershot.

The Nikon D40 Digital SLR Camera has been on a multitude of top ten lists and received numerous five star ratings. But, every camera has it’s quirks and some of them can be quite glaring. Then Nikon D40 is no exception. They say there’s no such thing as a bad camera, only bad photographers. I’d like to take that a bit further, and say that there’s no such thing as a bad photographer, only good photographers using the wrong camera. So, let’s be a little critical with the D40 SLR, and see if it’s really the right camera for you.

One last small grievance. Most SLR’s in this price range, allow you to take pictures in the RAW format, and the D40 is no exception. What is a bit surprising, is that when you take pictures with the RAW and JPEG format at the same time, the D40 only uses a very basic JPEG format.

The thing with cameras though, is that the technology changes so quickly, that by the time I finish writing this review, the next great batch of great cameras will hit the store shelves. Only too soon to be quickly followed by manufactures announcing the latest and greatest new features for the next round of cameras. If your into photography, and technology, this can be great fun. What with learning all the new jargon, buying all the latest gadgets, and generally just impressing the heck out of friends and family with all your geek wisdom.

The really good news though, is that with the power of the internet at our disposal we can get the very latest up to date information at a moments notice. There are tools online, that will compare digital cameras feature by feature, and show you the top rated cameras on a daily basis.

I heard a great story from an aspiring young photographer about their college days. His professor in a photography class full of promising professional photographers was given a simple task. They were shown a dozen or so beautiful and artistic photographs. Their task was to determine which photographs were taken by some very expensive SLR cameras, and which were taken by some very inexpensive point and shoot cameras. The end result? Their success rate was about as good as if they had just randomly guessed.

If want to head for the semi-pro class of camera, step up to the Canon Rebel XTi Digital SLR. It makes an easy transition from point and shoots into the infinitely complex world of SLR photography for about $600.
